Journal Prompt 1. Cofer's "My Father in the Navy" and Joyce's short story "Araby" are autobiographical or narrative in nature. Review the chapter in the Longman concerning the rhetorical mode Narration (pgs. 109-116). Discuss two narration qualities you see in the poem and the short story collectively. 1 para.
In both the shorty and the poem the narrators use first person narration. They tell us about what they have experinced and how they felt about situations that went on with them. Not only did this show first person but it related to flashback. They use words that show possesion and that showed thay were writing in first person. Both narrators used flashback by simpl flashing back or remembering what caused them to feel what they felt on these days.
Journal Prompt 2. Conflict and conflict resolution are narration qualities. Conflicts can be man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. self. Describe one example from Mayblum's "The Price We Pay" that exemplifies one of the aforementioned areas of conflict. 1 para.
There was one incident in Mayblim's " The Price We Pay" were the main character tried to get the heavier man to move and go with the flow of the rest of his co workers, and seemed like man vs. man. I think it was man vs. man because he couldn't talk the man into getting up and moving down to the lower levels of building. It was like they were agianst each other because neither of them would decide what was wrong and what was right.

I know you might look at your mom and womder why i chose to be a stay at home mom. I know you question why i ask you so mayquestions about your day and how you're doing in school . I do this because i want you to have better parents than i did. i want you to have the best and nothing more or less than the best . You deserve to have the finer things in life, and the best mom.

This is a slogan that targets young and energetic people who feel like they are the best or want to be the best. This ad should have people who have won a championshjp of some type. It should mainly contain championships won by sports teams.The purpose of this ad would be to make people buy these cereal, and when they buy the cereal they will feel like champions. This ad would have pictures that contain cheerleaders and sports players celebratring on the field or on the court. This is a very versitle ad that could contain many sports and different sports clips.

An advertisement i once read was about a diet pill that'll make you slim in six weeks. What was really bad about this ad was that the models they had were already skinny. It never showed how the product could effect you if used incorrectly. It used big buff men that had no clothes on at all. The ad barely talked about how this supplement could effect your health. This ad had poor visuals because if you didnt read what the ad said you didn't know what it was advertising.
This ad had a lot of protein drinks in the pictures, but it was a pill that was the product. This ad had older people who were buff and looked tough. I felt it was trying to target an older crowd and not all audiences.

This ad was a good ad because it actually use a scenerio were you could use the product. It was a Dr. scholls ad about the pads they have to put in your shoes. I felt this was a good ad because they even had slogans like,"Are you gelling?" ,"Because I'm gelling".It showed how the mans feet were hurting and he had to walk a long distance to his car, but as soon as he slip the pads in his shoes he was ok.
This was a good ad because iat allowed you to see how the pads lokk and the slogan allowed you to visualize how the pads felt. This ad would get three thumbs up from me. It reaches out to alll audiences that have feet problems. this makes the product more marketable and everyone knows about it.

Teens that are known as tweens all deal with trying to fit in if they are male or female.Tween girls tend to dress and act older than they really are. They even go as far as lying about their age, which leads to older men becoming interested in them and trying to approach them.Tween guys deal with peer pressure alot more than tween girls. The guys have to deal with older guys pressuring them to be something that they aren't, like drug dealers.Many young tweens are forced to live hard lilves because they have little or no guiadance, and some just do it because they feel its the way of life.

Most people are scared to think that their boss is wrong and they won't speak on it. In a lot of businesses we see group think because people are affaid to go against what their employer think is right. They are mainly scared to loose their jobs. They go along with what their boss is saying even if it's against their beliefs.Another example of group think is in gangs. The gang members are forced to do what their leader is telling them to do or they could loose their life or the life of one of their family members.

In the short stories "A Good Man Is Hard to Find", and "How Far She Went" the main characters are very simular. They are two grandmothers that are trying to make the best out of their situations. Each woman has to deal with disrespectful grandchildren that are also dissobedient. The grandmother in " How Far She Went" is really trying to figure out how to deal with her grandaughter that is wild and wants to live the fast life. She is trying to keep her granddaughter from ending up dead like her mother. She had to show her granaddaughter love the tough way by killing her dig that she cherished so much just to keep them alive.
The grandmother in the short story" A Good Man Is Hard to Find" is caught up in her past and is trying to avoid these robbers who are loose on the road. She talked her son into taking her back to this old house but instead of telling him she got her directions mixed up she allows him to keep drving. On this trip she just like the other grandmother has to deal with bad mouthed grandchildren. Her son and his wife never corrects the children from talking back to their grandmother. With the grandmother not taking the time to tell her son she was reallly lost, the entire family ended up being killed by the robbers. Journal Prompt 10. In this short story Walker lost one of her eyes from one of her brothers shooting a pelit (bb) gun. When she went to ther doctor they told her and her parents that due to her loosing her vision in one eye she could easily loose it in the other eye. Walker developed a haze over her and and always looked down. She looked down because she felt people were only paying attention to her eye and not her. Before she was shot people saw her to be beautiful, with this haze she felt different.
Walker and her family had to move to another county. In this county all of the kids make fun of Walker because she walks with her head down and never looks up. It was so bad that Walker ended up fighting a guy because he called her out of her name. Walker was in a terrible stat of mind. At night she would taunt her eye with this behavior her family decided to send her to live with her grandparents. This was a good thing for her because she knew all of the kids at the school near her grandparents.
