Cofer's "My Father in the Navy" and Joyce's short story "Araby" are autobiographical or narrative in nature. Review the chapter in the Longman concerning the rhetorical mode Narration (pgs. 109-116). Both stories used the first person perspective. They both also used flashbacks and sensory details to tell the stories. In "Araby" the narrator flashes back to his childhood and uses sensory details to describe how he had liked a girl as a child. In "My Father in the Navy" the narrator also uses flashbacks to his childhood and sensory details to describe how he missed his father and wanted him to return home.
Journal Prompt 2. Conflict and conflict resolution are narration qualities. Conflicts can be man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. self. Describe one example from Mayblum's "The Price We Pay" that exemplifies one of the aforementioned areas of conflict. 1 para.
I believe the conflict in "The Price We Pay" is man vs. man. This is based on the fact that the tower full of people was being attacked by terrorist that had hijacked a plane.

I can still remember getting my first videogame system as a child. I would play it for hours or at least until my parents would make me stop playing it. It’s memories likethose that make me realize why I have chosen a business in electronics and computers as my career path. As someone who has always loved technology, had a great interest in marketing, and accepts every challenge head on, I believe I would be perfect for a job in electronics and computers.

The advertising slogan for Fred's is "The Low Price Leader". An advertisement to go along with this slogan should try to appeal to people in the lower and middle classes. It should show people they can relate to shopping at Fred's. The ad should also contain various colors and large bold words in order to grab people's attention.

I've seen multiple ads on television for the marines that are very bad. Now, I'm not against the military but the ads were perfect examples of false advertisement. One in particular that I can remember featured a man getting rewards for his services. He was portrayed in a seemingly godlike manner. In the ad, the sky was bright and he was surrounded by admirers. My problem with this ad and many others like it, wasn't what it showed. My problem with these ads is what they don't show.
Military ads always show soldiers as being glorified but fail to show what actually goes into the job. These ads never show soldiers getting shot at or explosions going off right next to them. Hopefully most people are smart enough to be aware of the dangers of enlisting but I'm sure that there are plenty of people out there who aren't and could see one of these ads and enlist to get all the benefits and praise. The sad part for these people is when they come to the realization that they are putting there lives on th line. The multiple branchs of the military need to strongly consider revising there ads to avoid false advertisement.

I found a very good advertisement for the Playstation 3 that was featured on MySpace's login page. The ad showed the videogame system against a white backdrop. It also showed the words "It does blu ray, music, games, everything." The ad also showed the system's new price of $299.
This was a very good ad because it focused on being simple. Many ads try to be super flashy that after a while they all look alike. However, this ad just showed you the information you needed and nothing else. It gives you a picture of the system, a list of its capabilities, and its price. Overall, I felt it was a good advertisement.
