Cofer's "My Father in the Navy" and Joyce's short story "Araby" are autobiographical or narrative in nature. Review the chapter in the Longman concerning the rhetorical mode Narration (pgs. 109-116). Discuss two narration qualities you see in the poem and the short story collectively. 1 para.
Two narrative qualities that are in both Araby and My Father in the Navy are flashback and sensory. In Araby, the boy flashesback to when he was a child. he tells about how he was in love with a girl and went to the fair to buy her something but it was too late and mostly everything had closed for the night.The sensory details are the way he describe the girl he has a crush on and the way he decribes the fair. He describes drunken men, bargaining women, and the curses of laborers. The poem My Father in the Navy, the narrator is also using flashback. She is recalling waiting her mother bother, and herself waiting to see their father arrive home from the navy. She uses sensory to describe the way her father looked in his uniform. She decribes as looking like an angel when they seen him walking home.
Journal Prompt 2. Conflict and conflict resolution are narration qualities. Conflicts can be man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. self. Describe one example from Mayblum's "The Price We Pay" that exemplifies one of the aforementioned areas of conflict. 1 para.
Man. vs man. In this paper, Adam Mayblum describes the way he experienced 9/11. He thought it was a bomb but instead it was terrorists crashing the planes into the bulidings. Man was killing man. The people did not know how to react, They were not sure of what was really going on. In their mind it was a bomb, not actually terrorists crashing planes into buildings.

I am writing you on behalf of Mrs Gwendolyn Jenkins. She has asked me to write about her most joyful time in life and share it with you all.
