Journal Prompt 1. Cofer's "My Father in the Navy" and Joyce's short story "Araby" are autobiographical or narrative in nature. Review the chapter in the Longman concerning the rhetorical mode Narration (pgs. 109-116). Discuss two narration qualities you see in the poem and the short story collectively. 1 para. there are two characterics that i see in the story one of them is misbehavior because in arby the boy did what ever he could to make sure he went to the market the get the present for the girl that he didn't know anything about.

Journal Prompt 2. Conflict and conflict resolution are narration qualities. Conflicts can be man vs. man, man vs. nature, and man vs. self. Describe one example from Mayblum's "The Price We Pay" that exemplifies one of the aforementioned areas of conflict. 1 para. in this stor its more of man vs man because he guys deals with more of his feeling tham anuything else.

Remember your introductory paragraph must consist of a clear thesis statement and clear supporting advanced organizers. 1 para. jakayla i am writing you toso that you would understand that their are consqences to you actions.so that you will maybe see someof the things that i went through and will know that you will be punished for some of things that may not be you fault but all you have to do is learn from them and move on.

Journal Prompt 4. Find an advertising slogan and write a descriptive paragraph about what an ad for that slogan should contain: discuss target audience, sensory details, and purpose. 1 para
the main purpose of this ad is to persuade people to buy it. its audience are mainly children and also for people who are self concious about their weight. it envokes you taste buds because of the way they have it decorated on the page.

Journal Prompt 5. Read this article about bad advertisement. Discuss one advertisement you've seen or heard that you believe is poor advertisement--describe the ad so that a person reading your discription could visualize the ad without seeing it. Then discuss why you believe the ad is bad. 2 para
it only had a women with long beautiful hair. i belive the ad was poor because you really didnt understand what they were really tryin to sell. the ad should be very clear so that it shows they know the product and more thabn likey the probably use it thereselves.

it is a healthy breakfast food, you can make it in many different ways. its a whole grain meal. most people like to add any type of syurp with it. this ad was effect becasue it not only gives you the information on the food it self but it gives you ways that you can make it.

Journal Prompt 7. What social behaviors are teens demonstrating as tweens? What examples does the writer give? 1 para many of them are demostrating behaviors like growing up to soon. many of the time it fall back on the parents. so parents often times give their children to much freedom like for instance you should let you little girl wear hair styles that you wear or take them to get their nails done because they are not at that age yet.

Journal Prompt 8. In Jackson's "The Lottery," one social behavior that the town engages in is group think, which can be loosely defined as individuals in a group refusing to go against the group. What other examples (at least 2) can you think of where individuals engage in group think in a dangerous manner? 1 para. when it comes down to making decision that are inpeople best interset but some like things to staythe same to keep dowm trouble.. most of the time its about traditional things like. whether or not to change something that you have been use to for so long but because of that reason people are sometime scared of change and want things to remain the same.
